Using Pinterest with Schedulin
Schedulin publishes pins to Pinterest through the Pinterest API. You can schedule image pins, carousel pins, and video pins to any of your boards and board sections, including secret boards.
Connecting Pinterest
Connect on the Channels page. You'll authorize Schedulin via Pinterest's OAuth flow. If your Pinterest account is a Business account linked to a personal account, make sure you select the correct profile at Pinterest's consent screen before returning to Schedulin.
Once connected, all of your boards are selectable in the composer (you can also create a new board from there). Pick a board and, if it has sections, an optional section.

For video pins, set a thumbnail in the composer to use it as the pin cover. Without one, Pinterest uses an early frame of the video.
Pin details
Every pin needs a board. You can also optionally set:
- Title — Up to 100 characters. Defaults to the start of your caption.
- Description — Up to 800 characters. Defaults to your caption.
- Link — The destination URL Pinterest sends clickers to when they tap the pin.
- Board section — Shown once you pick a board that has sections.
- Pin color — The placeholder color Pinterest shows while the pin loads.
- Alt text — Set on each image in the composer.
Caption limit
Pinterest descriptions are limited to 800 characters. Hashtags are not clickable on Pinterest, so they have limited value there.
Analytics
Schedulin pulls impressions, saves, pin clicks, outbound (link) clicks, reactions, and comments for every pin it publishes, and tracks your follower count over time. You'll find them on the Pinterest page under Analytics.
Troubleshooting
- "The selected Pinterest board no longer exists" — The board was deleted or renamed on Pinterest. Pick another board and retry.
- "Pinterest blocked the destination link" — Pinterest flagged the link. Try a different URL.
- "We lost the connection to Pinterest while creating your pin" — Check your board before retrying; the pin may already be live.
- Account shows as disconnected — Pinterest rejected our access (for example, you revoked the app). Reconnect from the Channels page.
Known limitations
- GIFs aren't supported.
- @mentions and tagging users aren't supported through the API.
- Pins can't be edited or deleted from Schedulin after they're published.
